After being laid off from an Oil Company in Calgary in February 2016 my life was shocked in many ways. I was devastated by losing a very well paid job where I was planning to retire with a 105k salary and all the benefits an Oil Company was giving us. I had no idea what my life was going to change at that time. I even got sick for that loss. I was confused, angry, very afraid on how the future will look like. I took a lot of courses, seminars, webinars, conferences, you name it! I had no idea what I wanted to do. I applied to so many jobs, and I only got 3 small contracts, by replacing other assistant for a period of 3 months each contract. Then, I sat down one day and took a piece of paper and I started listing my skills. After almost 25 years of experience, I definitely learnt a lot of tools, systems, programs and was able to accumulate plenty experience as Executive Assistant. So I created a website, I advertised in different platforms, magazines, newspapers and slowly I started building my niche of clients who recognized my value and initiate. And so far, I have had my home based company since April 2016! ...to be continue.
